I found a device today, buried in the ruins of A1.

It seems to utilize another resonance chamber to detect the presence of chronitons. I took it down to A3, got some strong readings from the "beam"; positive from one side, and negative from the other.

My guess is, the corporation here was experimenting with time travel. I scanned some of the mutants, they also have high levels of
chronitons on them, which finally answers what they are.

They're us.

Apparently it's not just me that's doomed, but all of humanity.
