Well, I knew that thing wasn't a reactor. It's some sort of resonance chamber. As far as I can figure, what people call "the storm" is just the observed effects of whatever energy field that exists here becoming excited or overactive.

My theory is that the device in A2's internal structure is designed specifically to harmonically resonate with the emissions from the field. I still can't explain the portal at A1, at best guess, there was something there before - back in the day - that anchored that portal there.

Maybe that Gabe guy would know more? He claims to have seen the facility that existed there. Nuclear physics isn't the answer though, I've told my past self to start on Quantum Mechanics.
